"Aviva’s strengths are its focus on culture and values"

Jen Williams
Assistant Product Manager, Product
Melbourne

Years at Aviva:  6 years total (last period has been 2 years)

Career to date:

I began working at Navigator in 2000 as a temp (working holiday visa) in the Operations – Administration area. In July 2001 I became a full time employee working in the same department within the Superannuation team. One year later I transferred to the Pension team. Approx 9 months later I was promoted to Pension Team Leader. After a restructure within Operations in early 2003 I became a joint Team Leader of the Superannuation and Pension Team. At the beginning of 2004 I moved into the Operations Training Team as a Trainer.

I left the company in Dec 2004 for a Technical Analyst role at the National Bank of Australia. I stayed there for approx 9 months before I was offered another role back at Navigator as a Pension Business Analyst . Then in May 2006 I accepted my current role in the Product Team as an Assistant Product Manager.

What do you like most about your current role?

My day to day tasks offer quite a bit of diversity and I enjoy the fact that one day rarely looks like the last. My role also offers me the opportunity to work with many different departments and individuals within the organisation. Working with different departments and individuals means that my knowledge base is constantly expanding.

What are the best things about working at Aviva?

I feel that Aviva’s strengths are its focus on culture and values. I feel that my personal values are aligned and supported by Aviva. I feel that Aviva management also really care about their staff and know the importance of happy employees (eg. Social Club and social activities).

Aviva also offers an individual many career development opportunities, and I also find it very beneficial that it is an international company.
