Aviva’s Chief Executive Officer, Allan Griffiths today announced a new plan to incentivise employees to be more environmentally sustainable at home by matching government water efficiency and renewable energy rebates*.

Aviva is driving the green message home by providing employees the opportunity to receive their state or federal government rebate when purchasing a water efficiency or energy saving product while also receiving an additional rebate from Aviva of up to $300.

Mr Griffiths said that the rebate is a great way for employees to be environmentally conscious at work and at home.

”Aviva was the first insurer to carbon neutralise its operations on a worldwide basis. We are continually challenging ourselves to improve our impact on the community and environment.

“Now we are driving this initiative further and providing staff with the opportunity to purchase green products like water tanks so they too can implement environmentally friendly strategies both at home and at work.”

Barry Holmes, an Analyst Programmer with Aviva has already taken advantage of the unique offer by installing a grey water system for his Eltham home.  He applied through the scheme to complement the rebate received from Yarra Valley Water for grey water system which recycles waste water from laundries and bathrooms for use on the garden.

Under the Victorian State Government’s water conservation rebate, Mr Holmes received a $500 rebate plus an additional $300 rebate from Aviva.

“My decision to install a grey water system was driven by current environmental conditions and the fact that I could receive a combined rebate $800. I think it is great that Aviva is looking beyond the impact we have as a business and is also rewarding its employees who are trying to make a difference at home.” said Mr Holmes.
